LOUIS VUITTON
The latest chapter of Louis Vuitton’s Artycapucines Collection celebrates the artistic legacy of Keith Haring whose joyful, iconic imagery transforms 13 exceptional bag designs through the House’s unparalleled savoir-faire.
Since the debut Artycapucines Collection in 2019, the Capucines bag – named after Rue Neuve-des-Capucines, the Parisian street where Louis Vuitton opened its first store in 1854 – has provided the perfect blank canvas for more than 35 contemporary artists to create exclusive and highly limited Artycapucines bags. Today, the eighth chapter of the collection presents 13 extraordinary new interpretations featuring the work of Keith Haring (1958–1990), whose vibrant artistic universe is celebrated through the exceptional craftsmanship of the House’s master artisans. Faithfully translating Haring’s iconic works onto Louis Vuitton’s timeless and feminine handbag, the collection once again demonstrates the Artycapucines’ singular ability to unite artistic invention with the highest expression of savoir-faire.
Born in Pennsylvania in 1958, Keith Haring emerged from New York City’s 1980s downtown street art scene to become one of the defining creative voices of the twentieth century. His unmistakable figures, rhythmic linework and radiant symbols transformed contemporary art through a visual language that was at once joyful, immediate and universally understood. Developed in close collaboration with the Keith Haring Foundation, the Artycapucines Collection extends the creative dialogue initiated in Nicolas Ghesquière’s Cruise 2027 womenswear collection, presented in May at New York’s Frick Collection, where Keith Haring’s signature works and characters appeared across selected garments and bags, embodying the dynamic convergence of the city’s downtown artistic energy and uptown cultural refinement.
Drawing upon a broad spectrum of Haring’s celebrated oeuvre – including ’Running Heart’, ’Radiant Baby’, dancing figures, animals, and exuberant graphic compositions – the Keith Haring Louis Vuitton’s Artycapucines Collection showcases the remarkable breadth of Louis Vuitton’s craftsmanship through 13 exceptional interpretations of the artist’s visual language. Using the full repertoire of the House’s savoir-faire, from traditional leather marquetry to cutting-edge laser-printing, each design celebrates the vitality and generosity that continue to define Haring’s artistic legacy.
Highlights of the 13-piece collection include the precious Capucines Nano Running Heart, an exceptional minaudière meticulously crafted in lustrous silver-tone metal and adorned with more than 12,000 hand-set strass to recreate one of Haring’s most beloved symbols of love, life and compassion; the striking Capucines East-West Mini Maze, whose hypnotic all-over composition is brought to life through intricate embroidery, combining thousands of individually applied beads with traditional needlework techniques; the vibrant Capucines BB Holiday, which showcases the House’s unrivalled leather marquetry expertise through an intricate composition combining calfskin with precious semi-exotic leathers to recreate one of Haring’s vibrant seaside scenes; the richly patinated Capucines MM Genesis, inspired by the extraordinary Louis Vuitton suitcase hand-customised by Keith Haring in 1984, whose remarkable journey from a 1930s travel object to cultural artefact celebrates the creative dialogue between the artist and the House; the playful Capucines Mini Symbols, whose jewellery-inspired decorative chain translates Haring’s most iconic characters into colourful three-dimensional charms that animate the elegant Capucines silhouette; and the striking Capucines BB Figures, where Haring’s joyful Dancing Figures bring bursts of colour and vitality to the pristine white Taurillon leather, while the artist’s signature black outline frames the entire silhouette as an integral part of the bag’s architecture.
Selected Keith Haring Artycapucines pieces will be unveiled during Art Basel Paris. All bags in the collection will be released as limited editions in Louis Vuitton stores worldwide starting January 1, 2027.
The Artycapucines Collection today contains more than 50 distinctive designs by celebrated artists from across the world, including Takashi Murakami, Beatriz Milhazes, Ugo Rondinone, Zhao Zhao, Daniel Buren, Vik Muniz, Henry Taylor, Paola Pivi, Urs Fischer, Alex Israel, Park Seo-Bo and Tschabalala Self. Each creation reflects Louis Vuitton’s longstanding commitment to artistic creativity, placing its innovative spirit and exceptional artisanal expertise at the service of artists for more than a century – from Gaston-Louis Vuitton’s early commissions in the 1920s, to collaborations with visionaries such as Sol LeWitt, Yayoi Kusama and Richard Prince, and the opening of the Frank Gehry-designed Fondation Louis Vuitton in 2014. The Artycapucines Collection reveals the quintessence of that enduring dialogue between art, savoir-faire and craft, while affirming the Capucines as the perfect embodiment of the Louis Vuitton woman.
